Meet Manon and Lauren the creatives from London behind CandyWarholCreations, the super cute handmade accessories label. We had to reach out to find out about the inspo behind their brand! Check the full feature below.
On starting the brand
Candy Warhol has been around for about a year, it came about by accident really. We both studied Fine Art at uni, had recently graduated, we had both separately been making little things for ourselves and for our friends, embroidering patches and painting on t shirts. And we saw an advert for a stall in an arts market, thought we could collaborate and sell a couple things and really it just grew from there.
On their inspiration
I’d say we’re inspired by our own style, we make things that we would personally wear ourselves. We combine our backgrounds in art and textiles, and the love of bright colours and quirky fashion to create our products. Charity shops are our main source of inspiration, where we dig for unique pieces to up cycle and reuse. Our ever growing collection includes hand painted vintage clothes and bags, unique hand crafted earrings made with beads and our signature pompoms. Hand embroidered iron on patches and much more.
Our brand is overtly feminine. Looking at the retro vibe that stems from recurring fashion trends, we gravitate towards fluffy girly imagery but with a big dash of punk. This is most present in our recent (and first) shoot, which we styled and directed. Made by women for women. Our shoot was aimed at creating a dialogue for us as a brand, but also as a creative space for our friends who not only modelled our clothes but helped style and shoot the collection. It was important for us, as artists to have this collaboration of creative practices where we could come together with our friends and create something like this.
