2017 has been a beautiful year for women in music. We’ve witnessed the explosion of artists such as Jorja Smith, Ray Blk set fire to our airwaves, IAMDDB has killed us with her Mancunian brilliance, not to mention Mabel and the incredible Stefflon Don. As you can tell by our playlist on Apple Music and Spotify, we’re here for it all!
We’ll be continuing our music curation through Soundcloud too, partnering with more creatives and creating some exciting new content – be sure to follow and stay in the loop.
But with 2018 round the corner, it’s only right that we let you know what’s in-store.
In addition to some of the amazing women we’ve featured such as Tee the Singer and Camille Munn here are some underground artists to watch out for in 2018.
The incredible powerhouse that is Ms Banks has been making low-key moves for a minute, we caught her in action at the Timbaland x Rinse party and she shut it down with some fire bars and beautiful stage presence. A cheeky Nicki Minaj co-sign only helped to bolster her already growing reputation and with tunes such as “Day Ones”, we can tell she’s about to pop all the way off.
There are few things we love more than women walking with major confidence into male-dominated spaces. The MelaTwins popped off with a sick video putting a distinctly female twist on the UK’s growing Drill sound. RONIEBOND bumped into the duo at the GRM Christmas party and it’s safe to say a RONIEBOND feature is on the way.
When you jump on a fire beat, you’ve got to come harder than anyone who has ever been on that track before you, Trillary did just that. “Even on a bummy day I be fly” *insert fire emojis here*
Popping up and shutting down shows across London, Shauna is a truly talented gem. “Mi Like” put her on the map but we can assure you, this is just the beginning.
